Hi Friends: I want to format my Vista drive so I can do a clean install. What relatively inexpensive program will do the job well? I don't need multiple partitions. ![]()

well i usually use my windows xp disk, i boot from the cd delate the partition and wait for it to give me the options to format then format the drive and then cancel the windows installation, thus leaving me with a clean reformatted drive. Not the best way of doing it but i have got used to doing it that way now

The vista install disk can format drives. So you don't need any other software! crabby

| Thanks crabman. I don't remember seeing the option. Maybe it doesn't show up if there is a system on the drive already. What versions of Beta are you sure about?

Every version. I believe you were doing update install correct? And so therefore it would require the drive as is to then install vista. If you boot into the disk then do a clean install it will ask which drive you want to install to. When you select it you should see some 'buttons' at the bottom of the page which include format Check it out crabby

Hey Znod, Are you dual booting with XP? If so, try using VistaBootPRO. This little program is handy to have, because Vista and XP have different bootloaders. You can revert back to the XP bootloader if needed. Then from XP just format the partition. TurboStorm
