| Check out my reply and crabby's reply. Have you tried to add the printer in Vista?

It took forever to get the upgrade disks. I ordered them in early January and got them last week. I am happy with the upgrade though. Vista has some nice features and much nicer graphics. It also seem to run well -- aero included -- on my laptop with 1gb ram. Last edited by palms911 : 03-27-2007 at 10:07 PM. |

| On the matter of finding the printer -- I do the search for available printers and Vista doesn't find the network printer. So I click on "The printer I want isn't lsited," and I am able to find the printer but when I attempt to add it I get "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access denied." |

| I just did a Google search for "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access Denied," and found in a forum exactly how to solve the issue: Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer. ChooseAdd a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next. A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name ie. My computer's name is basement and the printer name is EpsonSty so I typed in \\basement\epsonsty It worked! |

| Well, cool. I'll try it on my HP that I haven't been able to get to work on 64-bit.

I had the same issue (ChooseAdd a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.) and took your advice. It worked, thank you for the post. However, I cannot print to the the printer on the VISTA system from my XP-Home system!!! Any advice? |
