I was going to give him an unused retail copy of Vista that Microsoft sent me for free. I am allowed to give it away, I just can't sell it. It is marked not for resale. Most promotional Microsoft software is marked this way. But I do know that they allow you to give it away.

The issue was that it is a EN version and he wanted to install the Chinese version of Vista and see if he could use my free product key. It is a full license with support.

He can install w/o using any KEY then add/change to Chinese (PRC) version. He can then Activate it... by using change Product "KEY" from the welcome center.

1. Change the Regional Language? Click Start -> type language in Search box -> click Regional and Language Options -> Current format -> Apply

You can also add more languages by going to Regional and Language.
Keyboards and Languages tab and under Display Language, click Install/uninstall languages.

several ways to do this.... this way is easier.. install then change language.

Thanks for clarifying. Now, I see (again). Somehow, I became confused by the post I replied too. Probably my fault; I am burning multiple candles at all three ends on each.
