The last driver made for that modem was very early 2003... I presume you have tried to download it? If not it is available at http://members.driverguide.com/drive...driverid=84854

But it is rather old... so try running it in compatability mode

Hsp56 Audiomodem Riser

Thanks for the Link, Crabby. I am a member also. But I downloaded the latest from PCTel. dated 1999. unsigned driver..It failed to install from the "SETUP"..It did install when I ask Vista to upgrade the driver...
Now I have to REBOOT..maybe later. XP it was PNP and Vista it is not... Wonder which Modems Vista-RTM has as PNP???
Used Add Hardware, it removed the Modem?? Opend Add Hardware again and ask it to add the modem, show it the driver disk, installed on Com 3, tested and says working AOK..NO REBOOT required...

Snuffy, in regards to this question by Crabby:

“I have an even more fundamental question... considering RTM = build 6000 and RTM has no writing on the bottom right hand corner of the desktop... how come yours does?”

Is your comment correct? Does your RTM shows the build at the lower right hand corner?

Trying to Answer best I can

Quote:
have two questions:
1. To whom or what email address you sent your request for the product key?
2. Was that product key previously issue to you to use on build 5840?
You are correct in the way you stated.. exactly what I did.
1. The link I used was for a RC1 Key.. and both Keys I have were Issued for build 5840.. (I ask 2 times for keys- emails saved as txt files.)
2. Prior to this Upgrade, upgrade had be GREYED out, and I could not use, all were CLEAN Installs..
3. (original url: http://www.jkg.in/34-how-to-obtain-t...l-for-free.htm) for Keys to RC1
4. My version says Evaluation copy...in lower right corner.. yes, it says Genuine and Yes it says Activated..Confused, Yes, I had never been ask before to enter a KEY at the end of Installation..before it would final boot.
see links :

http://www.dhcnetwork.com/~s0121/Evaluation.jpg
http://www.dhcnetwork.com/~s0121/Genuine.jpg
5. Yes, I had used the NO KEY to start the Install-Upgrade..which had allways gave me 30 days trial. but happy--

If you are using an RTM key, then you won't have the Windows Vista (TM) Evaluation Copy, build 6000. If you are using a RC1 or RC2 key, you will have the watermark in the lower right corner..

Most Microsoft products are initially set up so that a person can evaluate the software. Possibly after Thursday (but maybe not until January), you will be able to install Vista RTM as evaluation software. If you then decide to purchase a real key, you can then just enter your new key and activate permanently.

I am going to a Microsoft event tomorrow and it's possible that they will be giving out evaluation copies of Vista build 6000. At some events they have been giving away complete versions of Vista...

As far as being "Permanently Activated" that is doubtful. Type winver in the search box and it will tell you when your evaluation expires..

JoshW02@aol.com So they were only keys for RC1?
Key were sent using a Request for RC1 Keys but I also used them on the Upgrade from v5840 to v6000.
