What if it doesn't show any references about an expiration date?

Possibly after Thursday (but maybe not until January), you will be able to install Vista RTM as evaluation software. If you then decide to purchase a real key, you can then just enter your new key and activate permanently.

I am going to a Microsoft event tomorrow and it's possible that they will be giving out evaluation copies of Vista build 6000. At some events they have been giving away complete versions of Vista...

As far as being "Permanently Activated" that is doubtful. Type winver in the search box and it will tell you when your evaluation expires..
As posted in prior links. here are some shots of:

I'm sure your explanation on Watermarks is correctly stated by virtue of I used RC1 Keys. Winver shows
Evaluation copy. Expires 5-31-2007 5:59pm -- Wish I had a Real RTM Key but I do not.

Well Felix,

If it doesn't show an expiration, then I would assume that you don't have an evaluation copy....

Ok so now what?

I finaly got an RTM version installed, took like 4 torrents to get one that worked but it worked. So I did try to enter numbers from my Beta 2 and RC1 but neither took so I left it empty. I now have 29 days till activation. What happens if I activate and what happens if I do not?

I thougth the RC1 codes worked for the RTM install. Any help would be awesome.

Also thanks to Crabby and Anthony for all the help with torrens. If not for you guys I'd still be wishing for Vista.

I actually upgraded from XP to 6000 took like 2.5 - 3 hours but it worked.

This version is by far the best so far ALL my probelms have been solved and tonight I will try to sync my IPAQ if that works I'll be floored.

Question RTM no key = 30days [ RTM Key = ]

If you have a RTM key, then you get more than 30 days... Using NO KEY gives you 30 days... it seems that different keys give you different expire dates... If I use winver it says: Evaluation copy. Expires 5/31/2007 5:59 PM
if I use slmgr.vbs -dlv it says: Retail.License Status:Licensed. Evaluation End Date: 8/29/2007 6:59:59 PM...So I'm not sure when it really expires - Maybe this is because there are different copies of ??? RTM ???

I do get autoupdates from Microsoft ea day.. if there are any...I have Auto Update turned ON..

I'm using Trial Version Office 2007 which I enjoy all except Publisher 2007
When I need to update any html page I go back to XP and Office Frontpage 2003...

There is a difference between the 30 day limit and the expiry date. After 30 days you will have limited use of the os until the expiry date when the os will lock.
