So, my current lame excuse is just more of the same, perhaps a little less lame. That is, I can reinstall what I shouldn't have possession of anyway--so why not make my life a little easier by using a hack to keep me from having to reinstall until the real thing is released? Mind you, I am not arguing that my behavior is correct. Feeble rationalizations never help when one is doing what he or she believes to be inappropriate.

| Yep another variation on my lameness. I'd do the same with the best RTM available provided I didn't have to keep reinstalling. Did you mean RTM when you said "the new build."

| Crabby brings a good point; If MS would give testers like us with the chance to buy RTM now with a product key that could later be used with the final build, then we wouldn't be talking about the hack issue. But as of now, for most of us, the only choice is to use the RTM the only way we know how.

| If you righht click on the value, and use Modify, then make the change and exit, it should automatically save. I would also use "export" to save off a copy of the hive, before you go play. I use a 3rd party reg editor, since I don't like MS's. |

| Post #13 is something I haven't and am unable to try sorry, my Vista is activates using my key. I have yet to figure out what the guy actually did :S Galt seems to be more aware than myself... sorry I can't help. However, I know of other ways to activate up to 6000 if you require (it involves using files from older builds). crabby |
