I doubt that the issue is with Vista. Last night I updated my desktop and had not problems either (I had no problems with my laptop yesterday afternoon). Some application is blocking the installation. The most common application known to cause these issues is the anti-virus program. You could try disabling or removing the anti-virus application and give it a try. Or it could the spyware application.

I think your refereing to the (925902) .ani patch, this patch may fail due to As of April 5, 2007, Microsoft is aware of the following third-party programs that are affected by this problem:• Realtek HD Audio Control Panel
• ElsterFormular 2006/2007
• TUGZip
• CD-Tag

929399 is due to your having synch problems...
905866 is email patch...(your probably corrupted with spyware or malware)
932246 is compability issue... check the link and either remove or disable the bad items, ACDSee, AOL crud, Trend Micro, several games, etc etc etc
929735 is georgian calander and japan format items...

you can check all the KB failure to see what they are using, change the last 6 digits

Be aware that thousands of Vista users have had issues after installing this group of updates. I guess percentage wise thousands is not that high but if you do a Google search you will see what I mean.

This isn't isolated to a couple of us here on VistaBabble...

I don't have Realtek Audio or any of those other programs. Actually, I have Realtek Audio on my other PC and I had no issues. Only one of my PCs (out of three) that have Vista installed had the issue.

This is similar to what happened when XP sp2 came out. Thousands (including myself) had issues with installing the service pack. However, for some reason I was able to install it at a later date.

This is a big deal to those of us that have had issues with this because, so far, I have not been able to undo the issue with my computer. I have uninstalled the updates numerous times and restarted the my PC numerous times and my Windows Update still tells me: "Restart your computer to install important updates".

Have you tired a repair install? Not sure if it would cure the problem, but maybe.
