Why get Vista?

Thought maybe we could share our opinions on why to get Vista!
1.I want to get it cause I'm a tech freak...I admit it. My present line of work doesn’t requires it; the things I do in my PC can be easily handle with WinXP, Win98 or even Millennium, even though Millennium was a disaster. I just like to have the latest.
2.I also like my PC to look cool, and Vista does that.
3.Finally, I like to try new things. Life would be boring if it wasn’t because of the waking up every day with the thinking that there’s something new to try.
Why r u getting Vista?

Fun topic. Items 1 and 3 apply to me. Now that I have RC1, I say that a good reason to get RC1 is that it works very well. It won't be true for everyone, but I have no reason to go back to XP. The Beta works very, very well for my needs.

It like windows because it is an out of the box os I like Vista because it's their new out of the box os But I can't say it's for real tech freaks... we have LINUX for that!!!!

My real reason for getting vista is that I can And I like learing about stuff... and helping others with stuff!

Yes, I have to agree. I am not a real tech freak. I am a tech dilettante. So, yes, for me reason 1 applies with this qualification. I am glad we have one real tech freak on board.

Another reason I want Vista is because I like the look and feel of it. It's got a modern look and makes the PC looks better.

I have to agree with all of you. I have even tried Linux, there are some cool stuff with Linux, but could not run software I am already used too.
Vista runs very well on my system, and I will be installing it on my kids machine as well. The Parental Controls are a neat feature, the third party software just did not make me feel secure, now with it built in with Vista, I hope I will have no worries. I may keep XP for a litlle longer, but I have already imaged that partition, so here soon it will be all Vista!

Also, I know there r still poblems that need resolved, that's why it's a Beta, my overall experience has been great. Sure I had bugs that made me uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, but it felt good to be part of that experience. It also provided good opportunities for these forums to emerge, which allowed us to share those experiences, and learn from each other.

I am using RC1 as my primary OS. I have all my XP software installed and, so far, no bsod's. Why. No excuses - I am a Beta/new software freak. Maybe I will get bored with Vista and have a look at Mac OSX . Most of the linux releases I have tried and have had to give up on because of problems with hardware etc.
