Windows Anytime Upgrade

Has anyone noticed the Windows Anytime Upgrade on the Start menu? You click on it and it provides three options: Compare the editions of Windows Vista; Upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium (that's what I'm running on my laptop), and Upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate.

Clicking the "Compare the editions of Windows Vista" options, in my case, provides a side-by-side comparison Of Home Basic N, Home Premium and Ultimate. I don't know what the "N" on Home Basic stand for.

If you click to upgrade, it will tell you that you must first purchase the Windows Vista Upgrade online, then it will tell you to upgrade Windows Vista, but that you'll need a Windows Anytime Upgrade disc, which may come with your computer or you may purchased it to upgrade Vista. It also tells you not to insert the disc until you are instructed to do so.

Additionally, it said the following: You can purchase the Vista upgrade online and use it to install the new operating system on this computer (I imaging it's making reference to my current system). Your files, setting, and installed programs will not be transferred to the new operating system. Back up your files and settings and settings to the new operating system. Back up you files and settings before you begin the new installation.

Well, I clicked the “Begin Upgrade Now” button at the bottom and it took me to: https://pa.one.microsoft.com/product...T=3&ISOCTRY=US.

That website shows the following:

Windows Anytime Update
Thank you for your interest in upgrading your edition of Windows Vista.

Note: If you are asked to select your country/region and your country/region is not listed, then Windows Anytime Upgrade is not available in your country/region at this time. You can purchase the edition of Windows Vista you are interested in at you are interested in at a Microsoft authorized merchant.

Please choose your country/region:

United States is not listed.

Interesting. I don't find it on my Desktop. I'll look on my laptop later. Where, specifically, do you see it. Maybe, I'm just blinded with interest.

Felix, I don't have a begin upgrade now button either. Maybe, as Snuffy said, it's because there is no place for us to upgrade to.

Ypu can go here to find more information about Windows Vista Anytime upgrade: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...41b981033.mspx

It covers the following topics (too long to paste answers here):

1. What do I have to buy?
2. Why do I need the Windows Vista disc?
3 How can I obtain a Windows Vista disc?
4. How can I upgrade Windows Vista on a computer other than the one that I use to buy the upgrade?
5. How can I upgrade to a different edition of Windows Vista on more than one computer?
6. If a feature of an upgraded edition of Windows Vista requires specific hardware, how can I find out whether my computer has the hardware for that feature?

Concerning Vista Anytime Upgrade, if you have two or computers and have a retail version of Vista Home Basic for example, will it be possible to purchase and upgrade, upgrade the PC that has the Home Basic installed, then reinstall Home basic on another PC and upgrade that PC as well? That'll be cool as the upgrade will cost a lot less.

Does anyone has any ideas or comments?

Wouldn't doing so violate the EULA since you would have the same copy installed on two computers at the same time?--as opposed to installing it on one computer, replacing the computer with a second, and then intalling for the second (and final?) tiime.
